Hydrogen West’s mission is to establish WA’s first network of green Hydrogen Stations and position itself as a leader in the supply of green hydrogen to the transport sector, repurposing existing fuel stations for use as hydrogen refuelling stations and developing new stations. IBE signed a binding Hydrogen Supply Agreement (HSA) on 10 March 2021 with Hydrogen West that will provide Hydrogen West with renewable hydrogen fuel in both gaseous and liquid forms commencing in 2023. In return, Hydrogen West will provide a means of selling the hydrogen produced at IBE’s MEG Project in Northam and later the Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant.

While the Hydrogen Supply Agreement contemplates supply from the Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant commencing in 2022, due to project delays largely related to grid connection, the IBE MEG Hydrogen Production Facility will supply early hydrogen volumes to Hydrogen West commencing in 2023. An amendment to the HSA adjusting the commencing date, price, supply source and volumes will be made soon.

This MEG EPS Project will enable the development of Western Australia’s first network of green hydrogen refuelling stations by providing a hydrogen supply, IBE will also partner with Hydrogen West in the development of the Perth Airport Hydrogen Refuelling Station located on Dunreath Drive and later, additional hydrogen stations strategically located across WA.

Hydrogen West partner Integrated Energy has secured the Perth Airport HRS site by way of a Heads of Agreement with Perth Airport Corporation and expects to conclude a definitive lease agreement in early 2022. Hydrogen West have engaged with numerous logistics companies, fleet operators, and vehicle manufacturers surrounding the Perth Airport site, at the state and national level, to support hydrogen offtake from the refuelling station. We have engaged deeply with leading hydrogen station equipment suppliers to develop equipment aligned with Australia’s needs and build opportunity for Australian content, while also writing the relevant Australian Standards for Hydrogen Mobility
